+ Track and manage all negotiated empty and loaded freight contracts, ensuring compliance and timely renewals.
+ Stay current with Class I railroad tariff changes and assess their impact on Marathon’s freight costs and service levels.
+ Seek and evaluate opportunities for Rule 11 moves to optimize routing and reduce costs.
+ Maintain and update Marathon’s book of rail business, including lane utilization, carrier performance, and cost metrics.
+ Lead negotiations for new and renewal freight contracts, collaborating with commercial and legal teams as needed.
+ Work closely with schedulers, fleet managers, and asset reliability teams to align freight strategy with operational needs.
+ Provide regular reporting on freight spend, contract status, and performance metrics to leadership.
+ Support ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by the Rail Operations Director.
+ Analyze freight rate structures and maintain fuel surcharges, to identify cost-saving opportunities.
+ Benchmark rates against industry standards and market conditions.
+ Track and report on cost performance versus budget.
+ Demonstrate experience working at a Class 1 railroad in sales, pricing, or marketing.

Minimum Education Requirement:
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or a closely related field preferred
Minimum Experience Requirement:
+ Seven (7) years of rail industry experience required.
