    GCI's Performance Management Strategist will l ead the design delivery, and continuous improvement of performance management programs that drive accountability, equity, and growth across GCI. Provide strategic guidance and partnership to leaders and key stakeholders, executing initiatives that enable consistent performance practices and data-driven insights enterprise wide.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:

    Program Design & Delivery

     

    + Develop and implement annual and mid-year performance review frameworks that provide effective feedback on metrics directly attributable to company and employee success.

    + Ensure performance review frameworks foster employee development and professional growth opportunities.

    + Lead the administration of annual and mid-year performance cycles, calibrations, and performance improvement processes.

    + Ensure timely completion and accuracy of performance review cycles.

    + Maintain compliance with performance documentation and audit standards.

    + Ensure performance management practices comply with legal, ethical, and organizational standards, promoting a culture of accountability.

    + Partner with SMO and leadership to develop goal-setting frameworks that effectively flow down from company strategy initiatives and goals.

    + Proactively identify gaps or risks in performance evaluation practices and recommend solutions for practices that violate compliance standards or undermine fairness and equity.

     

    Tools & Frameworks

     

    + Maintain the integrity of performance systems, templates, and rating frameworks to ensure consistency and accuracy across functions.

    + Identify opportunities to optimize workflows by streamlining or automating repetitive tasks, enhancing operational efficiency. Partner with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), Total Rewards, and Admin Ops to ensure seamless process integration.

     

    Leader & Employee Enablement

     

    + Partner with HRBPs to train and coach leaders on performance conversations and feedback practices.

    + Provide strategic counsel to leadership on developing and evaluating employee performance goals and measurements aligned with SMART principles.

    + Foster a growth-oriented culture through targeted efforts to -improve leadership pipeline strength and talent retention rates.

     

    Data & Analytics

     

    + Monitor and analyze completion rates, performance outcomes, and calibration data to identify trends and opportunities.

    + Share data-driven insights and reporting with HR and business leadership to inform talent decisions and enhance workforce planning.

    + Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of performance calibration and reporting processes to support enterprise-wide transparency and accountability.

     

    Continuous Improvement

     

    + Evaluate leader and employee feedback to assess satisfaction with tools and processes.

    + Recommend and implement updates to performance management programs based on stakeholder input, evolving business needs, and best practices.

    + Ability to effectively coach managers and employees on performance conversations and development planning.

    + Ability to manage resistance and drive adoption of new tools, processes, or models.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to patiently and accurately articulate information to internal and external audiences, professionally handle inquiries and complaints, and communicate effectively with the team.

    + Strong group presentation skills and ability to conduct effective meetings and training.

    + Deep understanding of performance management methodologies and tools, goal-setting frameworks (e.g., SMART goals, OKRs), and competency models.

    + Strong understanding of continuous feedback models.

    + Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and the ability to accurately interpret Company policies and procedures.

    + Ability to manage timelines, resources, and cross-functional collaboration for performance initiatives.

    + Ability to analyze performance data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.

    + Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment and manage competing demands in a productive manner.

    + Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, appropriately gather and analyze information, make sound decisions, and implement solutions.

    + Ability to work independently and exercise strong decision-making and prioritization skills

    + Demonstrated proficiency in performance management software and data analytics tools.

    • TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY - Proficient computer skills and MS Office knowledge (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) to complete job duties effectively.

    o Demonstrated proficiency in performance management software and data analytics tools.

    Additional Job Requirements:

    This is an intermediate level position within the discipline demonstrating strong working knowledge and proficiency in areas of responsibility. Performs moderately complex tasks and job duties, receiving general instruction on routine work and more detailed instruction on new assignments. Works under moderate supervision with latitude for independent judgment. Supports higher level staff in implementing more complex projects.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis

     

    + High School diploma or equivalent.

    + Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, management, organizational psychology, or relevant field. *

    + Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible professional level experience in performance management, talent development, or HR. *

    Preferred:

    + Certified Performance Management Professional (CPMP)

    + PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent professional level HR certification.

    + Talent Management or Organizational Development certifications.

    + Project Management experience.

    + Telecommunications experience.

    + Other relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications.

    DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

    + This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS:

    + Work is primarily sedentary, requiring daily routine computer usage.

    + Ability to work shifts as assigned, work in standard office/home office setting, and operate standard office equipment.

    + Ability to accurately communicate information and ideas to others effectively.

    + Physical agility and effort sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively.

    + Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.

    + Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.

    + Must work well in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.

    + Virtual workers must comply with remote work policies and agreements.

     

    The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
