    Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) is a comprehensive academic support program designed to help students in specific at-risk economic and educational categories complete their academic journey to the bachelor's degree on time. Modeled on the principles of CUNY's highly successful and nationally recognized Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP), ACE provides intensive academic advisement, career development, tuition scholarships, textbooks, and transportation assistance. The replication program was launched at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Spring 2024.

     

    The ACE Advisor is a member of an integrated college team providing individual academic and personal support to an assigned group of SUNY Poly students as they progress through the program.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    (Essential duties are defined as critical to carrying out the function of the job, and, if eliminated, would alter the nature of the job. List, in order of importance, the essential function of the job and the approximate percentage of time spent on each of the activities; describe what must be accomplished; include supervision or management responsibilities, quality and quantity standards, physical and mental perceptual functions of the job.)

     

    1. Deliver comprehensive advisement support services to an assigned group of up to approximately 150 undergraduate students through degree completion; provide leadership, oversight and direction to students and SUNY Poly colleagues to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the institution's retention goals and strategies for student success.

    2. Maintain accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs, and conducts regular outreach to faculty and other SUNY Poly staff as needed;

    3. Review student progress and track student use of academic support services;

    4. Organize periodic special events for students, faculty and staff; may conduct or support delivery of student seminars on issues of importance to students, including career opportunities;

    5. Support annual recruitment of new students into the program;

    6. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

    Salary Range: $55,000

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree from a College or University accredited by the US Department of Education or other internationally recognized accrediting organization and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or a Master's Degree in a relevant discipline from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or other internationally recognized accrediting organization and a minimum of one year of relevant experience.

    + Strong understanding of the needs of freshmen and transfer college students;

    + Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team;

    + Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty and administrators;

    + Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed;

    + Strong organization, project management and facilitation skills;

    + Ability to enter, monitor and interpret student data accurately;

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills;

    + Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Access); and aptitude to learn new systems as needed.
