Purpose:
UPMC Corporate Revenue Cycle is hiring a full-time Business Service Clerk to support the Charge Management department. This position is located at the Quantum One Building and would work Monday through Friday during daylight hours.
The Business Service Clerk is responsible for providing clerical support to all Central Billing Office (CBO) staff. They coordinate mail services, including sorting, distributing, and documenting incoming mail and preparing outgoing mail for pick up on a daily basis. They also ensure correspondence is forwarded appropriately for timely processing by CBO personnel or other departments, as applicable. The Business Service Clerk interacts with personnel from the practice plans and UPMC hospital organizations to coordinate the exchange of information in a timely manner. They also distribute financial and statistical reports to the appropriate areas and retain those as required by both state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities:
+ Generate routine tracking reports as requested by management.
+ Operate postage and general office equipment necessary to perform job responsibilities.
+ Inventory and order supplies for the mail area.
+ Perform timely follow up on unidentifiable correspondence (e.g., missing name, patient number, physician, department, etc.) to ensure that it's routed to the appropriate area for proper handling.
+ Open, sort, date, stamp, and document incoming mail prior to distributing to CBO staff.
+ Follow up and track any missing or lost mail as needed.
+ Review returned mail, research and update address information in the system.
+ Organize the mail area and maintain a systematic process of handling both incoming and outgoing mail.
+ Print reports for the CBO and distribute to the appropriate areas within defined times.
+ Pick up outgoing daily mail within the CBO, sort and prepare for mailing.
+ Perform duties and job responsibilities in a fashion which coincides with the service management philosophy including the demonstration of the basics of service excellence towards patients, visitors, staff, peers, physicians, and other departments within the medical center.
+ Provide back up support in posting charges, payments, and adjustments as necessary.
+ Retain specific statistical and financial reports according to state and federal regulations.
+ Assist billing and collection specialists, payment applications and customer service representatives with various tasks as needed (e.g., research information, sort correspondence/claims, photocopy bills or EOBs, pull files, etc.).
+ High school graduate or equivalent.
+ Must be proficient at data entry.
+ Must be highly organized and have good verbal, telephone, and written correspondence skills.
+ Must have the ability to provide clerical support to multiple areas and coordinate daily mail processing within specific time frames.
+ Requires prior working experience on personal computer and other various office equipment.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
