Position Title Student Career Ambassador

Description of Primary Duties
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Administer resume and cover letter critiques to student and alumni users
• Provide Career Center website, resources, and services information to Career Center patrons
• Refer students and alumni to alternative resources and or departments as necessary
• Demonstrate awareness of situations that require referral to Career Resources Specialist
• Assist with Career Center activities, events, and marketing efforts as needed
• Help students and alumni with scheduling appointments via phone or through Handshake career management platform
• Guide potential employers to accessing job posting resources and student engagement opportunities in the Department
• Assist with office operations through desk and telephone coverage in both the Carrington and Glass Hall department locations
• Participate in tabling efforts to increase awareness of and market Career Center services and events
• Perform various office duties such as filing, copying, data entry and other special projects
• Attend all student staff meetings and training sessions
• Display a good work ethic, including the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Utilize effective organizational and time-management skills
• Display professionalism and maintain confidentiality
Outreach Duties
• Conduct Career Center overview presentations as assigned
• Serve as a Career Center representative through tabling and participating in other outreach events conducted by the Department
• Assist students with learning about Career Center services through intentional outreach efforts
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
• Current Missouri State University student
• Committed to working between 10-15 hours per week during office operating hours (Primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Friday)
• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Experience working with individuals from various backgrounds
• Familiarity with editing and creating documents using Microsoft Office Suite
• Previous customer service experience
Required Certifications
Additional Qualifications
While experience in reviewing resumes and cover letters (formally or informally) is a plus, it is not required. All Student Career Ambassadors will receive training in how to conduct professional document reviews.
