    •This position will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team to provide services that are aligned with the mission of Viability implementing best practices in Assistive Tech and VR.”

     

    $500 sign on bonus ($250 at the completion of first week of training and $250 after successful completion of first 90 days)

     

    Position: Program Assistive Technology Specialist

     

    Hours: 37.5 Hours per week; Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm or 9:00am-4:30pm

     

    Hourly Rate: $24.76-28.00 Per hour based upon experience

     

    Summary: The Assistive Technology Specialist supports Viability’s mission by providing technology training and support to individuals with disabilities across multiple service areas. This role involves assessing participant needs, implementing person-centered assistive technology solutions, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and providing individualized and group training. The specialist works collaboratively with participants, families, and program staff to promote independence and skill development through technology.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Assess and support program participants’ assistive technology needs in collaboration with families, stakeholders, and service providers.

    + Recommend and implement assistive technology devices, software, or modifications tailored to individual goals.

    + Provide ongoing training and support to participants, families, and staff on assistive device usage, maintenance, and integration.

    + Stay informed on current assistive technology trends, tools, and best practices; evaluate and recommend new solutions as appropriate.

    + Manage and maintain the Assistive Technology Library, ensuring all devices are organized, functional, and tracked properly.

    + Prepare, update, and configure hardware and software for classroom and lab use.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, internet, and Wi-Fi issues.

    + Track and maintain all virtual reality (VR) and digital platform equipment, licenses, subscriptions, and memberships.

    + Facilitate lessons and group sessions with clear objectives, documenting outcomes and participant progress.

    + Collect and document outcomes related to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and participant goals.

    + Promote independence, community integration, and personal development through skill-building and technology engagement.

    + Communicate professionally, positively, and effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.

    + Collaborate with Program Specialists and other staff to ensure comprehensive participant support.

    + Adhere to agency policies, safety protocols, and procedures; respond appropriately to emergencies or crisis situations.

    + Provide transportation to participants using agency or personal vehicles as needed.

    + Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science, Special Education, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

    + Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities, ideally with exposure to assistive technology or adaptive equipment.

    + Certification: Must be or become Assistive Technology Certified within one year of employment.

    + Technical Skills:

    + Strong working knowledge of assistive devices, adaptive software, and accessibility tools.

    + Familiarity with Virtual Reality headsets, tablets (iPads), internet/Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and VR applications.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.

    + Other Requirements:

    + Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.

    + Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
