Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and driven Sr Electrical Engineer – Hardware to lead the design, development, and testing of innovative electronic products in a dynamic, consumer-focused environment. This role emphasizes PCBA layout, hands-on testing, and full-cycle hardware development—from concept through production. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep technical expertise, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, manufacturable solutions. This position includes up to 10% domestic and international travel to support development and manufacturing efforts.
Responsibilities
+ Design board-level solutions, focusing on schematic design, component selection, and PCB floor planning of analog and digital circuits.
+ Act as Technical Lead for the design of functional circuits supported by analytical calculations and circuit simulation.
+ Direct projects with minimal oversight, taking the lead in meetings and owning projects from start to finish.
+ Collaborate with Product Managers, Industrial Designers, and Mechanical Engineers to deliver market-differentiating products.
+ Provide product cost/capability benefit analysis to ensure optimal final solutions.
+ Author and assist with Product Requirements Documents and Technical Requirements Documents for organized product development.
+ Engage in hands-on design, review, prototyping, debugging, verification, and validation testing, including manufacturing start-up support.
+ Develop product qualification and manufacturing test plans for use by internal technicians and manufacturing partners.
+ Review product test methods, fixtures, and results for test efficacy and product qualification.
+ Work with sustaining and compliance teams to ensure long-term support of globally compliant products.
+ Implement product improvements to enhance manufacturability and reduce overall product cost.
+ Support global manufacturing partners during product ramp-up and production.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
+ Contribute to technical documentation including specifications, test reports, and design reviews.
+ Travel up to 10% to support international and domestic manufacturing and development efforts.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 7 years of relevant hardware development experience.
+ Proficiency in schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and root-cause analysis.
+ Experience with Altium Designer is highly preferred.
+ Experience in developing, debugging, validating, and qualifying complex electrical designs.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
+ Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
+ Skilled in low-power circuit design, analog signal processing, data conversion, battery management, wireless communication, and DC power regulation.
+ Strong understanding of hardware component selection, PCBA materials and stack-ups, and best practices for design for manufacturing and cost optimization.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead technical programs from concept through production with minimal oversight.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Working knowledge of regulatory compliance standards such as FCC.
+ Experience with IoT systems, RF communication, and wireless power delivery is a plus.
+ Understanding of IPC standards is a plus.
Work Environment
Work in a challenging and fast-paced environment with constant movement and new product development. Collaborate with teams across different time zones, including early morning or late evening meetings with teams in China. The role involves some travel to the APAC region. Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
with 7% bonus (based on personal performance). Health benefits through Cigna, 4 weeks of PTO to start and one floating holiday. 5th week after 5 years. Cannot negotiate additional PTO time. 401k plan is sponsored by ASSA ABLOY and they start matching on their 12-month anniversary, 3% safe harbor and match first 3% at ½%. $300 annual fitness reimbursement for gym membership OR used to purchase fitness equipment (Bicycle, home gym, treadmill, kayak, etc.).
