Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Director of Annual Fund is responsible for the management of the University’s development efforts as it relates to securing annual support from alumni, students, friends, parents, faculty and staff, and Board members of UNC Charlotte
+ Develops and implements a comprehensive, multi-channel annual fundraising strategy to engage key university constituencies and drive philanthropic support.
+ Leads, mentors, and evaluates annual giving staff; collaborates closely with internal departments, campus partners, and external vendors to ensure coordinated program execution.
+ Designs and oversees an annual program calendar that includes solicitation, stewardship, donor engagement, and fundraising campaigns (e.g., direct mail, Giving Day, crowdfunding).
+ Monitors and evaluates program performance using analytics and data systems; sets and tracks fundraising goals and key performance indicators.
+ Manages budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to support annual giving operations and technology needs.
+ Enhances donor pipeline and retention, including oversight of loyalty programs like the 1946 Society, and support of initiatives for students, alumni, and faculty/staff giving.
+ Benchmarks with peer institutions, researches best practices, and integrates trends to refine strategy, grow donor participation, and strengthen the culture of philanthropy.
Minimum Experience / Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree and three years of annual giving fundraising experience.
+ At least two years of experience managing an annual giving team.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
+ Master’s degree and higher education experience preferred.
+ Proficient with ScaleFunder Platform, Salesforce, and Mongoose Cadence; skilled in online fundraising strategies and data-driven decision-making.
+ Able to set, track, and analyze progress toward annual objectives.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead, empower, and coordinate teams effectively to meet both individual and team goals.
+ Strong ethics, communication skills, organizational skills, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement and industry best practices.
