    Work hours: Part Time (20 hours); Day time hours with occasional evenings

    Here's What You Need

    * Nursing Diploma required OR

    * Associate's Degree Nursing require OR

    * Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

    * 1 year staff development or adult education experience required AND

    * 2 years related clinical experience required

    * RN - Registered Nurse upon hire required AND

    * NIHSS - National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification upon hire required AND

    * BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required AND

    * ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 days required

    What You Will Do

    * Stroke Clinicians respond to Stroke Activations in the Emergency Department and In-House, and must maintain current knowledge of clinical practice in the stroke patients.

    * Demonstrates/models excellence in teamwork, communication, and nursing practice through the unitization of advance concepts in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation of acute stroke patient care. Reviews implementation of stroke orders protocols and follows up as needed to ensure compliance.

    * Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical outcomes that support departmental and organizational goals within the hospital entity and overall Texas Health System.

    * Collects concurrent and retrospective data and assists in the implementation of practice changes as needed. In conjunction with the Stroke Program Coordinator, coordinates education and verifies competence of staff performing NIHSS.

    * Assists in achievement in the provision of quality care to the stroke patient population. Assist in the development of appropriate policies and procedures required for the provision of effective and efficient stroke care.

    * Provide community outreach through community events including but not limited to local EMS and Fire stations to promote the wellness, disease awareness, and treatments of stroke.
