Director - Global Banking Markets, Business Architect - Dallas, TX
Purpose
The Director of Business Architecture plays a pivotal role in shaping and aligning strategic business capabilities across Global Banking and Markets (GBM). This leader will define and maintain the target operating model, align business capabilities to strategic objectives and partner closely with technology, operations, risk and front-office stakeholders to enable transformation across global markets, corporate banking and capital markets business.
This is a high-impact role for a strategic thinker who can translate business strategy into actionable architecture, ensuring that GBM’s operating model remains agile, efficient and customer-focused in a rapidly evolving global financial landscape. The role requires deep expertise in capital markets, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to translate complex business strategies into actionable architecture frameworks.
+ **Strategic Architecture Leadership**
+ Define and evolve the GBM business architecture framework, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and strategic priorities.
+ Partner with senior leaders across GBM to translate GBM’s strategy into an executable business architecture that identifies capability gaps, business model opportunities, and transformation enablers.
+ **Capability Mapping & Optimization**
+ Develop and maintain business capability maps, value streams, and operating models across GBM lines of business (e.g., Sales & Trading, Investment Banking, Risk, Operations).
+ Lead assessments of current-state vs. target-state capabilities to inform investment decisions and transformation roadmaps.
+ **Target Operating Model (TOM)**
+ Define, maintain, and continuously evolve the GBM Target Operating Model, covering business capabilities, process, data and organizational structure.
+ **Transformation Enablement**
+ Support major initiatives (e.g., digital transformation, data strategy, regulatory change) by providing architectural guidance and business design expertise.
+ Act as a strategic advisor to transformation initiatives, ensuring projects are aligned to target-state design principles and deliver measurable business outcomes.
+ **Governance & Standards**
+ Establish and maintain business architecture standards, methodologies, and tools.
+ Contribute to enterprise architecture governance forums and ensure GBM representation in cross-functional planning.
+ **Stakeholder Engagement**
+ Act as a trusted advisor to GBM executives, product owners, and transformation leads.
+ Influence stakeholders to adopt architecture-led thinking in business planning and investment prioritization.
+ Facilitate workshops and working groups to co-create business models, capability maps, and strategic blueprints.

+ No direct reports, however, scope for influence across the business transformation team and GBM Technology teams.
+ Communication: Strong written and oral skills.
+ Attention to Detail: Exceptional editing skills.
+ Microsoft Office: Expert in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
+ Organization & Project Management: High ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks.
+ Curiosity & Research: Strong capability to gather insights and background information.
+ **Education & Experience**
+ 10+ years of experience in business architecture, strategy, or transformation within capital markets or financial services.
+ Deep understanding of GBM products, services, and regulatory environment.
+ Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
+ Strong analytical, conceptual, and communication skills.
+ Experience with business architecture tools (e.g., BizzDesign, Ardoq, Sparx EA) and frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, BIZBOK).
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
+ Experience working in a matrixed, global organization.
+ Familiarity with agile delivery models and product-centric operating models.
+ Ability to bridge business and technology domains with clarity and precision.
+ **Working Conditions**
+ Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel domestically/internationally
