Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
- Honeywell (Phoenix, AZ)

We are seeking a senior technical leader with a strong background in the design and analysis of non-rotating engine components and a proven capability to lead a team of less experienced engineers.
We are working on a new centerline and are early in the concept phase. Our team is subdivided into “modules” which match subsystems of the engine: fan, compressor, combustor, turbine, etc. Modules needing a leader are the externals and the exhaust module.
The module lead interfaces with the program as the single point of contact and the technical expert for that group of components. The module lead decomposes system level requirements to the subsystem, comes up with a design and analysis plan to verify requirements, estimates resource and manpower needs, and then executes the plan with a global team of less experienced engineers. The module lead is responsible for overseeing the analysis and mentoring the junior engineers. The module lead is responsible for ensuring designs meet requirements communicated through design reviews. The module lead is expected to operate fairly autonomously, go figure out what the right thing to do is and make it happen.
We are transforming into a requirements-based engineering organization. We have adopted the agile framework. We are adopting model-based design. Requirements in DOORS. CAD is Siemens NX. PLM is Siemens Teamcenter. FEA is Ansys. Compared to other OEM’s, we have less rigor in standard practices and procedures, which places the responsibility onto the technical lead.
