Description
Typical Duties
The Manufacturing Engineer will support sub-assembly and parent-level assembly (and potentially even metal fabrication) operations by generating production routings, work instructions, tooling, jigs/fixtures, and resolving immediate production issues through hands-on support. The engineer will assist in process development and continuous improvement activities. Additionally, this professional will also support the launch of production programs and may advise design engineers on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and other production-related matters.
An example of tasking would be as follows:
This Manufacturing Engineer (colloquially referred to as “Production Support Engineer”) will be assigned to programs to support production of specific major assembles (and sub-assemblies). Principle duties will include development, review, and validation of production routings and work instructions but will also contribute directly to process improvement (CI), safety, as well as design and development of Tooling, Fixturing, and support structures as needed to facilitate assembly operations.

+ 2-5 Years experience in industrial assembly operations (preferably in low-volume/high-mix operations for large major assemblies)
+ Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Principles (including SMED concepts), Efficiency, and experience with Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Analysis.
+ 3-5 years experience in an industrial metal fabrication environment—including machining of parts from billet, and cutting and forming of sheet metal parts using lasers, press brakes, and stamping presses—and mechanical assembly operations with basic familiarity with metals’ material properties
+ Experience in technical writing and development of detailed work instructions for assembly and rework operations.
+ Experience using 3D CAD programs _(PTC Creo preferred)_ to create production drawings from model.
+ Familiarity with and ASME Y14-series standards _(including Y14.5 GD&T)_ and experience reading and interpreting assembly drawings.
+ Experience in Designing Tooling, Fixturing & Jigs (with “error-proofing” / “Poka-Yoke” features), material-handling assets, and support structures for assembly operations
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills _(linear algebra, geometry, trigonometry)_
+ Must be a US Citizen with ability to pass a criminal background check _(active possession or eligibility to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance preferred)_
Desired Experience & Skills:
+ 3-5 years of experience as an engineer in aerospace and/or defense manufacturing environment ( _experience in AS9100 aerospace manufacturing a plus)_
+ Experience using ERP platforms to generate production routings _(SAP S/4HANA preferred)_
+ Familiarity with ASME Y14.43 _(Gage Tolerancing)_
+ Experience using PDM suites _(Windchill preferred)_ to manage production process documents
+ Familiarity with National Industry Standards such as ASME, ASTM, SAE standards, and MIL-STDs in regards to fabrication, assembly, and testing procedures and requirements _(Ability to Reference, Interpret, and integrate into detailed work instructions)_
+ Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems preferred
