Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineering – Gen AI

We can’t do that without the best talent – talent that is innovative, curious, and driven to create exceptional experiences for our guests, customers, owners, and colleagues.   This client seeks an extraordinary Gen AI Engineering leader to help build the algorithmic assets and features that the client guests, members, customers, and internal users leverage to transform the guest experience and drive efficiencies across the operations of our business. In this role, you will design and implement Gen AI solutions and partner closely with Personalization, Forecasting, and Decision Science domains, as well as foundational MLOps frameworks to bring our machine learning models to life across the full lifecycle of the product including data ingestion, ML processing, and results delivery/activation. This role will work cross-functionally with various data science teams, data engineering teams, and data architecture teams. The ideal candidate can serve as both a solutions architect as well as hands-on implementation engineer and guide the team toward best-in-class MLOps platform and algorithmic product implementations. You will be a part of a ground-floor, hands-on, highly visible team which is positioned for growth and is highly collaborative and passionate about machine learning and AI. - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of ML engineers; foster a high-performing, psychologically safe, and inclusive team culture.

- Drive hiring, performance management, career growth, and technical upskilling across the team.

• Translate the company's ML strategy into actionable team roadmaps and deliverables.

- Act as a thought partner to Product and Data Science leadership; provide strong technical and organizational guidance. Technical Strategy & Delivery

- Drive innovation and guide the team in building scalable Gen AI applications and services including real[1]time inference pipelines and batch processing jobs - Champion best practices for MLOps (CI/CD, model monitoring, feature stores, reproducibility, ML governance, and observability).

- Own architecture decisions and system design reviews; lead delivery of ML infrastructure and services using AWS-native tools.

- Ensure the security, reliability, and compliance of AI systems by partnering with data architecture, governance, and security teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, product owners and architects to enable end-to-end algorithmic product development.

- Prioritize, scope, and sequence technical projects in alignment with business priorities and team bandwidth - Influence engineering planning processes and reporting; champion Agile best practices.

Skills and Requirements

- 6+ years of experience in machine learning or MLOps roles

- 3+ years of people management experience in a tech leadership role

- Experience in NLP/NLU and fine-tuning and deploying LLMs or other Generative AI solutions to production.

- Familiarity with deploying RAG or any other retrieval framework, working on RAG architecture

- Expertise in AWS cloud services (e.g., SageMaker, ECS/EKS, Step Functions, Lambda, Glue).

- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in SQL, PySpark, and containerization (e.g., Docker).

- Proven experience designing scalable data pipelines and ML systems for both real-time and batch inference.

- Deep understanding of MLOps/CI-CD pipelines, Agile development practices, and model lifecycle management.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong bias for action and collaboration.

- Familiarity with ML observability tools and responsible AI practices. - Background in search systems or recommender systems (information retrieval)

- Travel industry

- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Ph.D preferred.
