Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the existing staff in the Lueck Lab. This will include maintenance of HEK293T cell lines, transfection, cell harvest, and running plate reader assays. Additional responsibilities include lab organization, maintaining plasmids (midipreps) and performing molecular biology. Will assist with overall operation of the laboratory including equipment maintenance, and training of lab personnel. There will some work that will include the maintenance of the Lueck Lab mouse colony. The individual will design and perform experiments, collect and analyze data, help to manage projects and publish papers. Ability to work in a lab team environment with a diverse group of personnel is essential. Will be supported by OP345857 from the start date to July 2027.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Research Analysis, Presentation, Searches:
+ Prepare literature searches as needed.
+ Analyze and present findings to PI and/or in laboratory meetings.
Training responsibility:
+ Helps to interview and trains laboratory personnel and rotating graduate student on laboratory and departmental-shared equipment and laboratory procedures.
+ Perform routine laboratory maintenance and preventive care for all laboratory equipment.
Mouse Colony Maintenance:
+ Assist in mouse husbandry, genotyping and preparing of mouse chow for drug delivery.
Cell Culture and Molecular Biology:
+ Work with mammalian and yeast cells for screening nanobodies and for performing plate reader assays for quantification of protein expression
Other job duties and projects as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ High School Diploma or GED Required
+ Associate's or BS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physiology, Biophysics, Neuroscience, Health Science, Biology, Chemistry or other science related field of study Preferred
+ 1 year of laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Technical skills in molecular biology and cell culture. Required
