    Ames Middle School is seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher (Strategist I) for the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year. You will join an excellent team of special education teachers dedicated to providing strong interventions to help students experience success in academic areas.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

     

    + Demonstrates the ability to enhance academic performance.

    + Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.

    + Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction.

    + Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.

    + Uses effective classroom management strategies.

    + Fulfills all the responsibilities of the IEP: timely and current progress monitoring, uses progress monitoring to guide instruction, etc.

    + Works collaboratively with other educational professionals.

    + Engages in professional growth.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    + Valid Iowa teaching license.

    + 5-12 Strategist I: Mild/Moderate Endorsement, K-8 Strategist I: Mild/Moderate Endorsement or willingness to obtain required.

    The successful candidate will exhibit:

    + Ability to bend, lift, sit on the floor, run short distances, and assist physically active students.

    + A basic understanding of the needs of children and the ability to relate to children with different academic and behavioral needs.

    + Professional communications skills.

    + Patience and compassion and maintain a caring and helpful relationship with children.

    + Initiative and the insight to anticipate problem situations and respond accordingly.

    + Ability to create a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students and staff.

    + Consistent and punctual attendance.
