Description
The SCR ENS Project Management Department Manager provides leadership and strategic direction for project delivery within the SCR ENS practice. This includes supporting business strategy, developing high-performing teams, ensuring financial success, and promoting Burns & McDonnell’s values of client satisfaction, integrity, safety, and service excellence.
Responsibilities include leading and mentoring project managers and staff; conducting performance reviews; managing financial performance and project risk; establishing policies and procedures for quality and safety; and supporting company and practice initiatives. The Department Manager partners with regional and practice leadership to align departmental operations with strategic goals, ensuring successful project execution and optimal client outcomes.
Responsibilities:
+ Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the project management team; oversee assignments, performance, and development to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
+ Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing project management staff; conduct performance evaluations and support professional growth.
+ Partner with the regional GP manager to define and execute business strategies aligned with overall goals and objectives.
+ Conduct monthly reviews of project and departmental financial performance; prepare and present reports to leadership, ensuring alignment with financial targets and business goals.
+ Provide senior-level environmental consulting and project management expertise to guide staff in executing projects successfully.
+ Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements; establish and communicate department processes that promote project success, including on-time delivery, client satisfaction, and profitability.
+ Facilitate go/no-go analyses, contract reviews, and negotiations in collaboration with regional leadership.
+ Assess project risks and oversee implementation of corrective actions as needed.
+ Implement and support company, global practice, and regional office programs and initiatives, managing change effectively within the department.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned, while maintaining compliance with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemistry, or a related field from an accredited program and 7 years of related professional experience providing environmental services and/or project management.
+ Previous leadership and/or management experience preferred.
+ Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, including Microsoft Project or equivalent.
+ Experience in client and business development, project planning, design coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
+ Experience with contract negotiations and risk management.
+ Demonstrated financial success on completed projects.
+ Excellent facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of staff, management, and clients.
+ Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change within the organization.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
