General Summary
Collaborates with leaders within assigned service line as well as our suppliers to develop multi-year strategic initiatives that leverage system-wide volume. With an emphasis on cost reduction and improving our supply chain management, works to optimize the number of vendors and provides supply channels and contracting. Reviews purchasing agreements to initiate supply cost reduction and strategic sourcing initiatives. This position is also responsible for leading strategic sourcing/value analysis committees and training/leading others in developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives that deliver savings and enhances the competitive position of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
+ Serves as subject matter expert for assigned category and demonstrates a thorough understanding of the contract portfolio.
+ Remains engaged with economic and market trends/changes; develops mitigation strategies where appropriate.
+ Researches suppliers and manufacturers to determine position in the marketplace and identify opportunities that would benefit the health system.
+ Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers serving the health system.
+ Develops critical sourcing/optimization strategies based on corporate spending analytics; develops a rolling three to five-year sourcing strategy/project delivery pipeline focused on value and cost savings.
+ Collaborates with cross-functional leadership in development of RFP's, quotes, and bids that deliver value to the organization and focuses on cost, quality and outcomes.
+ Enhances WSH supplier diversity efforts to increase overall percent of goods and services purchased through diverse vendors.
+ Serves as key member of the Value Analysis team; develops project presentations and reports on financial targets, strategies and implementation plans.
+ Engages with Group Purchasing Organization(s) (GPO) to ensure alignment with projects, product conversions and contracts.
+ Develops and negotiates contracts with suppliers that deliver maximum value to the organization. Communicates and disseminates information relating contract status, terms and conditions to leadership.
+ Strong skills in directing cross-organizational workgroups and building consensus
+ Develops and monitors supplier improvement metrics.
+ Executes on identified opportunities to consolidate suppliers, standardize products and/or improve product utilization. Ensures alignment with established system standards or develop new standards where appropriate.
+ Monitors contract compliance and expiration dates. Develops process to ensure contract renewals and compliance corrective actions where appropriate. Ensures appropriate pricing tiers and discounts.
+ Engages suppliers for continuous improvement/optimization opportunities for the health system, supply chain and products.
+ Identifies and/or supports health system/supply chain continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Utilizes system ERP (enterprise resource planning) system to document contracts and ensures items are available in the item master with associated source and pricing. Maintains contract pricing & price files proactively.
+ Assists supply chain and department leadership in the development of budgets.
+ Provides leadership and training to a team of procurement specialists; supports with regular meetings.
+ Develops, educates and provides training to staff on process, procedures, contracts and systems relating to supply chain and procurement.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
+ High School Diploma or GED Required
+ Bachelors Degree Preferred in Finance, Business Management, or Accounting Preferred
Work Experience:
+ 5 years Procurement, strategic sourcing and/or contracting; preferably in healthcare Required
Courses and Training:
+ Active membership in AHRMM, APICS, or CMRP Upon Hire Preferred
