This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid Services.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    + Verifies students’ eligibility for all types of aid programs and resources (e.g., Pell and SEOG Grants, external and internal scholarships, student loans (Subsidized, Unsubsidized, Perkins, PLUS, and Private), work-study opportunities, etc.).

    + Supports compliance by monitoring Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and a variety of performance indicators as well as correcting and updating students’ pertinent data

    + Assists families and students with their aid application and processing

    + Reviews, updates, and inputs financial aid information in a variety of sites and applications

    + Monitors and keeps logs of students’ contacts for prompt and accurate response using various platforms and social media; provides feedback to improve services

    + Collaborates in the production of the office’s Policy and Procedures Manual (PPM)

    + Helps with the supervision and evaluation of support staff and student workers

    + Aids with special projects or activities as designed and assigned by the Director or designee

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualification

    + Bachelor's Degree required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Two years’ experience in a fast-paced financial aid environment

    + Experience with student database/on-line systems

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (with an emphasis in Excel skills)

    + Working knowledge of higher education software (e.g., CUNYfirst/PeopleSoft/Oracle, etc.)

    + A strong customer service commitment, leadership skills, and attention to details are essential along with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills

    + Must be team spirited, articulate, and flexible

    + Proven problem-solving abilities and ability to conduct independent research

    + Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population

    + The ability to work a permanent evening (10 AM to 6 PM) schedule is required. (This schedule may change to accommodate summer or weekend special hours as well as the need of the students or the office)

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Counsels applicants and students on eligibility for financial aid programs, assisting them in the application process.

     

    - Verifies eligibility for Federal and State financial aid programs including grants, scholarships, and guaranteed student loans

     

    - Performs application intake, evaluation, processing and awarding

     

    - Assists in the production of Financial Aid online, print material, and websites

     

    - Advises students on good academic standing requirements and the appeal process; reviews appeals for dependency overrides and budget adjustments

     

    - Conducts group workshops and represents the financial aid office at various on- and off- campus events

     

    - Serves as a liaison between the college office and Direct Loan Providers

     

    - Performs other related duties as assigned.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    $63,003- $68,668; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
