Description:
**Job Title:** Medical Assistant II
**Department:** Outpatient Clinic
**Reports To:** Clinic Manager
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant II provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves performing routine clinical tasks, assisting with procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with MercyOne standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
+ Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant information.
+ Administer medications and injections as directed by providers.
+ Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.
+ Assist with minor office procedures and wound care.
+ Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
+ Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
+ Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
+ Provide patient education and instructions for follow-up care.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
+ Current certification as CMA, RMA, or equivalent preferred.
+ CPR/BLS certification required.
+ Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Skills & Competencies
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
+ Proficiency in EHR systems and basic computer applications.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods.
+ Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
