Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for visual communication and digital media?
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Multimedia Specialist to join our Communications Bureau at our Headquarters in Boise and help bring the agency’s mission to life through compelling video, audio, and photographic content. In this role you’ll capture, edit, and produce high-quality multimedia assets that inform, inspire, and engage our audiences. If you have an eye for detail, a knack for creative problem-solving, and the technical expertise to turn ideas into impactful visuals, we want you to apply.
The successful candidate will combine their knowledge of shooting and editing digital content, with project management skills to plan, execute and deliver projects from start to finish. This person must be able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and talent; and will be responsible for assigning the right team of partners to complete projects. They must be capable of creating compelling content that resonates with the audience and accurately shares needed information. This role requires a high degree of organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently, utilize best practices in digital asset management and storage, track budgets, and maintain equipment.

Responsibilities:
+ Video Content Creation and Management:
+ Producer – Manages the video needs of the organization. Coordinates with managers, bureaus, section managers and regional communications managers to identify video needs and develop a plan for execution. Duties may include storyboarding, script writing, organizing talent and other production needs.
+ Storytelling – Utilizes communication and marketing best practices to create compelling stories in final products.
+ Videographer –Sets up and operates cameras, audio, lighting, props, and other equipment on set or on location.
+ Editor – Edits nonlinear video and audio to create final product, including adding graphics, closed captioning, and special effects to footage.
+ Project manager – Manages videos contracted to outside video production firms, when applicable.
+ Training:
+ Provide direct training to select department staff to assist in capturing photo and video assets.
+ Photography:
+ Assist in capturing and editing photo assets on set and on location.
+ Content Management:
+ Manage the storage, distribution, and archiving organization of all photo, video and audio assets.
+ Manage YouTube channel organization and other video publishing platforms as needed.
+ Administrative:
+ Manage timelines, budget, licensing agreements, and contracts related to video and photo production.
+ Purchase, maintain, and manage inventory of equipment.
+ Manage contractors.
+ Follow trends in content creation, video, and social media.
+ Participate in projects by preparing media and digital content for communications campaigns.
+ Develop and recommend or implement program policies and procedures.
+ Prepare or assist in the preparation of administrative reports, studies, and specialized projects.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:(All qualifications listed below are required. + Experience planning and implementing projects (Typically gained by at least one year of experience managing projects. Experience must include being responsible for the development (needs assessment, planning and budgeting) of the projects, as well as being responsible for assessing the projects toward goals and project outcomes.)
+ Experience developing, promoting, and gaining project support (Typically gained by at least one year of experience identifying and engaging key stakeholders in project development and implementation and coordinating resource support to meet identified needs or problems.)
+ Experience interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public (Typically gained by at least one year of experience that involved the interpretation of specialized or complex information such as laws, policies, procedures, rules, etc., where the information was analyzed and communicated into information that was usable by the public or the project team in various formats (oral, written, graphic, web-based, etc.)
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, film, communications, or a related field, with 3–5 years of experience as a freelance or corporate videographer promoting organizations, products, programs, or services. They are skilled in using modern video, audio, and photography equipment to produce, shoot, edit, and publish high-quality, engaging content.
This person thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, manages multiple projects with creativity and attention to detail, and communicates effectively with creative teams, stakeholders, and production staff. They must be able to operate recording equipment for extended periods and work in remote outdoor settings on varied terrain, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Strong post-production skills and familiarity with editing and content management software are essential. Above all, the ideal candidate is purpose-driven, passionate about wildlife conservation and management, and familiar with outdoor recreation - including hunting, fishing, and the communities who value these traditions.
