Job Title: Materials Manager
Job Description
The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of all plant location inventory, including raw, semi, and work-in-progress (WIP) materials, and their impact on finished goods. This role ensures that manufacturing inventory turnover targets are achieved monthly while focusing on minimizing and eliminating excess and obsolete inventory. The manager will also ensure high customer service levels are attained while enabling cost and capital goals.
Responsibilities
+ Manage all plant location inventory including raw, semi, and WIP materials, ensuring monthly manufacturing inventory turnover targets are met.
+ Focus on minimizing and eliminating excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining high customer service levels.
+ Oversee procurement and forecasting of raw materials and semi-finished products, and manage the distribution of all products upon manufacturing completion.
+ Drive continuous improvement within the Materials Planning team to achieve operations KPI goals related to safety, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and cost.
+ Create and monitor reports on OTP, inventory, shipments, backorders, lead time, raw materials, and vendor performance.
+ Maintain relevant material master data including safety stock, lot size, lead time, product group, scrap rates, delivery times, and costs.
+ Coordinate plant SIOP initiatives, ensuring lead times, production, fill rates, and OTP are projected, tracked, and attained.
+ Perform material availability analyses, control and adjust MRP parameters, and expedite purchase and supply sources.
+ Monitor raw material inventory and service levels, ensuring high supply levels with minimum inventories in a cost-effective manner.
+ Own the production plan, ensuring all actions align to achieve site KPIs, and collaborate with manufacturing to resolve capacity constraints.
+ Coordinate plant shipping and receiving to ensure timely material movement supporting plant goals.
+ Ensure the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system through monthly cycle counts on raw and finished goods.
+ Maintain accurate routing information for products, ensuring system integrity throughout the manufacturing process.
+ Identify opportunities to reduce costs across supply chain activities.
+ Work with suppliers and vendors to schedule material deliveries and outsourced orders.
+ Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and health guidelines, fostering commitment and engagement across the team.
+ Serve as a role model who embraces company values and inspires others.
Essential Skills
+ In-depth understanding of supply chain end-to-end and inventory control.
+ Experience in production control/planning and materials management.
+ Proficiency in SAP and ERP systems.
+ Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
+ Experience with supply chain analysis, including Excel proficiency.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Experience with inventory reporting systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree.
+ 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, including MRP, shop floor control, and master scheduling.
+ APICS certification preferred.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerBI, Tableau, and Kinaxis.
+ Excellent organizational and planning skills.
+ Thorough understanding of product cost accounting, budget planning, and profit and loss forecasting/variance analysis.
+ Experience managing a team of direct reports preferred.
Work Environment
The role requires 40-50 hours a week with a hybrid schedule. Initial presence in the office is necessary.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Bedford, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.29 - $73.07/hr.
