Job Title: Plant Radiological Integration Engineer
Type: Contract
Compensation: $69 - $115 hourly
System One is seeking a Plant Radiological Integration Engineer to support our client’s advanced nuclear reactor project. This role focuses on Nuclear Island System, Structure, and Component (SSC) design integration with plant radiological design, analysis, and shielding requirements. The successful candidate will coordinate between design, analysis, and operations teams to ensure full alignment between radiological assumptions, safety analyses, and ongoing SSC design work. Responsibilities
+ Coordinate between design teams working on plant source term and radiological release analysis, risk analysis, operations, and SSC radiological shielding design.
+ Ensure alignment between radiological analysis assumptions and SSC design implementation.
+ Develop radiation protection and shielding design guidance and procedures.
+ Prepare and maintain documentation related to radiation protection, shielding, and training.
+ Lead integration of radiological analyses into plant design deliverables.
+ Support cross-disciplinary analysis and design decisions.
+ Interface with and support radiological licensing activities and Safety Analysis Reports.
+ Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to design teams.
Qualifications
+ B.S. in Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
+ 10+ years of direct experience in radiological protection, shielding design, or health physics at an operating commercial nuclear facility.
+ Experience designing radiation protection systems and performing shielding and source term analysis.
+ Proficiency with Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) or similar radiation transport codes.
+ Strong experience in multi-discipline and multi-organization design integration.
+ Background in nuclear reactors, nuclear handling systems, or other high-performance engineered systems.
+ Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead design efforts with minimal supervision.
+ Experience working to design quality standards (ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001).
+ Strong attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to teamwork.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
+ Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
+ Work may involve bending, stooping, fine motor control, and prolonged computer use.
+ Standard office environment, 8+ hours per day.
+ Travel: up to 5%.
