    Job Description

    **AECOM** is looking for an experienced Project Chemist/Chemistry Manager. The position is based out of our Chelmsford, MA office, although the work may be done remotely. The selected candidate will be tasked with providing technical expertise and managing a team of chemists to provide technical and logistical oversight for Federal environmental projects. Key responsibilities include data validation, task management, and staff oversight. Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills are critical, as is the ability to work effectively with internal and external team members and clients. The selected candidate must be well organized and have experience managing and prioritizing several assignments at one time, while delivering quality products on time and within budget.

    Specific responsibilities for this position include t but are not limited to:

    + Data validation in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Data Validation Modules, EPA National Functional Guidelines (NFG), or EPA Regional Guidance

    + Laboratory evaluation, selection, and coordination to ensure that the resulting data meets technical requirements and project data quality objectives (DQOs).

    + Coordination with field teams before and during sampling events.

    + Development of data validation procedures for unique analyses not addressed specifically in existing guidance documents.

    + Review of data validation reports and other project documents to ensure accuracy and consistency with project requirements.

    + Preparation of Data Usability Assessments (DUAs) at the conclusion of the project summarizing data quality against established DQOs.

    + Supervision, mentoring, and training of staff, including assigning tasks, reviewing work and fostering professional development.

    + Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.

    + Regular communication and coordination with Project Managers and other stakeholders as needed.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + BA/BS plus eight years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + BA/BS in Chemistry or related scientific field of study

    + 15+ years combined experience in environmental chemical laboratory analysis, data validation, and/or environmental consulting.

    + Experience interpreting analytical methods and standard operating procedures

    + Must have either commercial laboratory analytical experience or data validation experience

    + In-depth knowledge of USEPA analytical methods.

    + Experience with validation of PFAS or dioxin/furan data

    + Experience with operation and use of analytical laboratory equipment (e.g., ICP, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, and/or GC/MS)

    + Experience with DoD Quality Systems Manual (QSM) for Environmental Laboratories Version 6.0

    + Experience validating data in accordance with DoD Data Validation Guidelines and Modules

    + Experience validating data in accordance with EPA NFG

    + Experience using automated data review systems such as EDMS, FUDSChem, or EPA EXES

    + Familiarity with Earth Soft's EQuIS database program
