About the Opportunity:

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a passionate Occupational Course of Study (OCS) Teacher to support students in the OCS program. This specialized role focuses on preparing high school students with disabilities for life after graduation through instruction in academics, vocational skills, and independent living.

Role Overview:

As an OCS Teacher, you’ll work with students who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering instruction tailored to their unique abilities and post-secondary goals. The curriculum emphasizes:

+ Post-secondary employment readiness

+ Independent living skills

+ Vocational skill development

You’ll help students build essential academic, life, and job-readiness skills in a supportive classroom environment.

Classroom Details:

+ Caseload: 20 students total, working with 10 students at a time

+ Support: Dedicated Teacher Assistant in the classroom

Key Responsibilities:

+ Develop and implement individualized IEPs aligned with OCS standards.

+ Provide direct instruction in academic and vocational subjects.

+ Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and ensure accessibility.

+ Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.

+ Maintain regular communication with families and support teams.

+ Participate in IEP meetings and school-based planning.

+ Keep accurate records of student performance and instructional activities.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred).

+ Active NC EC Teacher license is preferred but there is some flexibility for candidates who have EC experience and are eligible to renew their license

+ Experience working with students in transitional or special education programs.

+ Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.

+ Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

+ Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student success.
