Summary About the Position: This position is under the supervision of Watervliet Industrial Operations and Production Directorate, Manufacturing Engineering Division. Responsibilities Establishes deadlines, priorities, work sequences and plans work assignments based on general work schedules and short- and long-range plans developed. Organizes, coordinates, and directs the work activities and personnel of the segments supervised. Reviews and analyzes production, cost and personnel utilization to evaluate work progress, control or reduce costs and anticipate and avoid possible problems by recommending corrective action to superiors. Allocates resources and distributes work to organizational segments under incumbent’s control and ensures individual workers and resources are redirected to accomplish unanticipated work. Develops and establishes the internal procedures to be followed by subordinate supervisors to assure effective control and direction of the work activities and personnel supervised. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Industrial Control Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision as outlined in the duties of the position which includes (1) Supervising or leading employees in repairing, maintaining, inspecting and performing preventive maintenance on machinery in a manufacturing environment; (2) experience in preparing work schedules, conducting formal or cross training, reviewing subordinates completed work, and/or completing production reports; (3) applying high degree of knowledge of electronic theory and circuits to include installing, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing and maintaining complex equipment and/or machinery and operational testing; and (4) recommend solutions to problems and improvements to equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORT: Most work is performed at a desk; however, due to the supervised nature of work, the incumbent may be required to work in tight and uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work requires frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, crouching and laying. Sometimes it works on top of and under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying or sitting. Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 45 lbs., and often puts forth similar effort in pushing, pulling, and turning, positioning, and adjusting parts, assemblies, equipment and tools. Lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers and/or lifting devices. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside buildings, in shops and outside with exposure to wide variations in weather and temperature. Incumbent is exposed to potential injury from power tools and danger from flying objects, cuts and scrapes, is expose to traffic hazards while driving on both improved and unimproved road surfaces. May occasionally make repairs when noxious fumes are present. There is exposure to insect, spider and snakebites. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year supervisory trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Material Maintenance Management Career Field position. This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
