    POSITION PURPOSE:

    This position is responsible for leading and directing a service organization that provides critical field support for plant equipment at Power Operations generating facilities. Serves as central point of contact for site engineering support needs. Maintains technical expertise to promote operational and competitive excellence. Develops engineered solutions based upon system performance, condition assessment, and root cause analysis. Supports O&M and capital project development and implementation. Allocates in-field resources to tasks to achieve optimal performance.

    JOBDIMENSIONS:

    Supervisory Responsibility— Approximately 10-20 employees including engineering personnel, Senior, Specialist & Principal levels.

     

    Budget Responsibility— Approximately $1.5M annually

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    + Lead and direct an organization with high levels of component expertise for plant equipment.

    + Provides central point of contact for site engineering support needs ensuring the plant sites are connected with needed technical resources.

    + Provide critical emergent and programmatic engineering and technical field support for outage and non-outage operations at the plants related to responsible equipment. This support is expected to be accessible and in the field when needed.

    + Provides the technical leadership and expertise for equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, refurbishment, repair, and replacement for routine and non-routine component problems.

    + Directs, manages the investigation, and recommends solutions to resolve high visibility/high impact complex equipment engineering issues which could impact plant safety, unit reliability, and cost effectiveness of operation

    + Provides engineering system ownership for plant equipment.

    + Responsible for condition assessments, monitoring, inspection, and testing activities to support problem resolution and asset health for continuous improvement and operational excellence.

    + Supports O&M and capital project initiation, budget forecasting, and prioritization for components through SME input into the Asset Management Plan.

    + Ensures technical resources are applied to capital and O&M projects, design changes, equipment specifications and support of joint project teams to ensure appropriate decision making and alignment for sustainable reliability of the asset.

    + Plans, coordinates, & directs staffing, personnel development, & appraisal activities ensuring employee have needed tools available to safely perform their work.

    + Develops budgets, controls and monitors expenditures to stay within budgets.

    + Responsible for technical resource support of Technical Information Bulletins and Letters, or Service Instruction Letters, ensuring they are dispositioned appropriately for sustainable and reliable operation of the asset aligned with business model.

    + Directs resources to support organizational special projects as directed by supervision.

    + Establish strong relationships with other Generation Services organizations, operations leaders, project management, and other key partners that support successful delivery of services.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education–B.S. degree in Engineering, related field or equivalent demonstrated experience. Desirable to have advanced graduate degree.

     

    Experience–Minimum of 6 years’ experience in power generation industry, with 8 or more years’ experience in power generation industry preferred. Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position, with supervisory experience preferred.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities– Thorough understanding of performance engineering criteria and standards. Demonstrated ability to interpret broad policy matters and provide overall program direction. Must have demonstrated successful leadership skills and be capable of effecting positive culture change and have specific knowledge and experience in oral/written communication, teamwork, problem solving, process management and innovative solutions to problems/issues. Must be capable of travel to and ability to work at Power Operations generating facilities. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
