ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Coaches, mentors, trains, and motivates staff; assigns and reviews work progress and appraises employees while inspiring high team performance.
+ Meets regularly with staff to plan, coordinate, assign and schedule station design work tasks including project scope development, cost estimating, proposal development, design preparation and assembling packages for construction.
+ Manages consultant engineering support services.
+ Provides expertise for projects and committees regarding technical and non-technical matters related to design engineering.
+ Leads efforts in the development and implementation of standards for equipment, material, design and construction requirements used for electrical substations.
+ Oversees the implementation of company design processes and procedures and the use of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) software applications to ensure consistency, quality and efficiency in the substation design process.
+ Provides support and guidance on development of substation material specifications, selection and evaluation of materials and failure analysis to determine root cause.
+ Provides input to budget development related to substation capital and maintenance project work. Performs regular review of project costs and provides cost variance analysis.
+ Prioritizes department initiatives and sets department goals to align with corporate values and department needs.
+ Collaborates with other engineers and departments which may include consulting, managing projects, developing standards, organizing resources, or maintenance.
+ Works closely with other departments of the company to ensure efficient and effective processes are implemented.
+ Initiates and facilitates process improvement and other company initiatives.
+ Acts as business owner for design-related engineering services procured from consultants.
+ Meets regularly with consultants to establish and confirm ITC expectations on project quality, schedule and costs.
+ Responsible for reviewing and approving vendor services authorizations and invoices.
+ Attends industry forums, conferences, meetings and education sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills.
+ Participates in public forums and city/township meetings related to substation projects
REQUIREMENTS
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
+ Minimum of five (5) years of directly related electric utility engineering experience.
+ Professional Engineer certification preferred.
+ Demonstrates expertise in design, construction or maintenance of electric facilities.
+ Advanced knowledge of electric utility system operations, planning, protection, design, construction and/or maintenance functions.
+ Demonstrates effective leadership and motivational skills, including mentoring, coaching and developing co-workers and/or subordinates in a team-oriented environment.
+ Possess sound analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to evaluate performance measures and implement process improvements.
+ Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision in a team environment.
+ Demonstrated ability to organize data and resources; plan and manage tasks; and meet deadlines.
+ Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and visual communications.
+ Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
+ Ability to travel to support geographically diverse business operations and staff.
