    Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA is hiring for a Transfer Student Support Specialist. The Transfer Student Support Specialist conducts detailed transfer credit evaluation and degree planning and advising to support external transfer student enrollment in the BS in Science/Doctor of Chiropractic and Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree programs. This role provides cross-departmental support for the Admissions, Registrar, Student Academic Success, and Academic Affairs departments and documents the needs of transfer students and communicates relevant degree progress to all relevant departments at the college to ensure continuous student academic and administrative support. This positions also participates in Admissions and Academic Success/advising related activities and events in support of transfer students.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

    + Conduct timely evaluation of transfer courses and syllabi and updates the transfer course database to assist traditional and international students in making informed admissions and enrollment decisions

    + Provide incoming and current BS and BS/DC students with course selection and degree completion guidance and updates student records to formalize transfer credits in the Registrar/Admissions SIS databases.

    + He/she provides updates on a regular basis for transfer equivalency charts/articulation agreements to guarantee accuracy in the transfer credit evaluation, approvals and award processes.

    + Conduct preliminary assessment of transcripts and syllabi to determine transfer credit at point of admissions. Create student transfer records and conduct initial advising appointments with students to assist in first-time enrollment.

    + Upon student entry to the college, re-evaluate transfer course credit, contacting stakeholders for approval as needed, and enter equivalencies and awards in the student information system for both the BS/DC and DC to DC degree programs.

    + Build and share an academic plan with BS/DC and DC to DC students once all transfer credits receiving academic approvals.

    + Continue to review and advise the BS/DC students on an ongoing basis to ensure continuous progress through their programs. Facilitate all final graduation evaluations and award verifications for the combined BS in Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees in coordination with the Registrar Office.

    + Maintain the transfer course equivalency database and update the student information system (Salesforce Recruitment and Admissions, Student Information System) in coordination with the Registrar Office.

    + Research and review programs and courses from other academic institutions, contacting appropriate stakeholders as needed. Make recommendations for the determination of course equivalencies for both programs to the Academic Deans for approvals and updates in the SIS transfer credits processing screen and for web-situated Transfer Equivalency guides to inform and attract potential new students.

    + Participate in the development of transfer pathways and articulation agreements with colleges with representatives in coordination with the Admissions, Registrar and Academic Affairs offices. Provide timely and accurate information in the development of articulation resources.

    + Retrieve and provide necessary analysis and copies of non-digital transcripts and diplomas for the completion of alumni, state licensure boards, and other official student documents/validations requests.

    + Provide excellent and timely customer service to prospective students and their families/guardians pertaining to degree exploration, transfer credit and syllabi evaluation, and degree completion pathways or scenarios in coordination with the Admissions, the Registrar and Academic Affairs offices.

    + Coordinate with Admissions Office staff and other stakeholders to respond quickly to queries regarding course evaluation and total transfer credit permitted. Must be familiar with BS/DC and DC to DC degree requirements and transfer credits application variations.

    + Maintain positive collaborative relationships with Academic Affairs, Admissions, Registrar, faculty, the Student Academic Support Services and other campus offices and stakeholders.

    + Participate in all aspects of the duties and responsibilities of the Office of the Registrar.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the Registrar.

    + Proactively coordinate with Student Affairs regarding orientation to ensure the needs of transfer students are met.

    + Maintain positive collaborative relationships with Academic Affairs, Admissions, Advising, faculty, the Student Academic Support Services and other campus offices.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree with two to three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

    + Ability to perform assigned duties with time pressures and frequent interruptions.

    + Ability to work independently, exhibit initiative, and make and implement decisions

    + Strong understanding of all students’ administrative processes and data to ensure accurate implementation of the administrative database system

    + Demonstrated experience in academic record maintenance and functionality

    + Ability to utilize general office equipment and other necessary equipment

    + Ability to utilize personal computers and various software packages

    + Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems

    + Ability to originate and implement new ideas and approaches

    + Ability to communicate data and concepts in verbal, numerical, and graphical modes

    + Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

    + Ability to work various hours as a job requires

    + Previous experience working with transfer students at both graduate and undergraduate level

    + Systems implementation experience preferred
