    Brief Description of Duties:

    SUNY Morrisville seeks a dynamic, visionary Provost to lead Academic Affairs. This position will champion innovation, academic excellence, and institutional resilience. The Provost will lead with courage, clarity, and compassion, guiding faculty, staff, and students through a pivotal period of change in higher education.

     

    This senior leader will be responsible for advancing the academic mission of the college, fostering student success, and aligning curricular and co-curricular initiatives with workforce needs, community impact, and SUNY Morrisville strategic goals. The ideal candidate is a bold, collaborative thinker who values shared governance, empowers academic leadership, and brings a data-informed, equity-centered approach to decision-making.

     

    With a deep commitment to SUNY Morrisville's applied learning model and rural mission, the Provost will help shape the future of a campus rooted in hands-on innovation, student support, and inclusive excellence - ensuring long-term vitality through creativity, empathy, and strategic foresight.

    Primary Responsibilities, Tied to Our 2030 Strategic Plan (linked here):

    Enhance & Expand Experiential Learning

     

    + Drive curriculum innovation and academic excellence by supporting new and revised programs, micro-credentials, and graduate offerings that meet student interests and regional workforce needs.

    + Lead academic strategy and operations to support Goal 1: Embrace and Cultivate a Sustainability Mindset, ensuring integration of environmental, social, and economic sustainability into academic offerings, operations, and development.

    + Oversee and expand experiential and applied learning opportunities that center real-world, hands-on sustainability practices.

    + Advance institutional and financial sustainability by improving academic program efficiency, innovating delivery models, and aligning offerings with student demand and workforce needs.

     

    Sustainability

     

    + Lead academic strategy and operations to support, embrace and cultivate a sustainability mindset, ensuring integration of environmental, social, and economic sustainability into academic offerings, operations, and development.

    + Oversee and expand experiential and applied learning opportunities that center real-world, hands-on sustainability practices.

    + Advance institutional and financial sustainability by improving academic program efficiency, innovating delivery models, and aligning offerings with student demand and workforce needs.

    + Foster a welcoming and equitable academic environment that advances SUNY Morrisville's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across recruitment, curriculum, and student support.

    + Promote shared governance and collaborative leadership, engaging faculty, staff, and students in transparent, mission-driven academic decision-making.

    + Mentor and supervise deans and academic leaders, building a culture of collaboration, accountability, focus, and care.

     

    Agility & Innovation

     

    + Respond to the evolving higher education landscape by reimagining academic structures and championing initiatives.

    + Drive strategic academic planning, resource allocation, and cost-to-revenue analysis to optimize program sustainability and institutional agility.

    + Support new learning pathways that reflect evolving learner needs such as stackable credentials and hybrid models.

     

    Impactful Partnerships

     

    + Strengthen community, industry, and K-12 partnerships to create career-connected learning, dual-enrollment pipelines, internship sites, and opportunities for faculty and students.

    + Represent SUNY Morrisville's academic vision externally with SUNY leadership, legislators, donors, and regional stakeholders.

    + Contribute as a strategic partner on the President's Cabinet, advancing whole-institution initiatives, policy, and communication that amplify the college's mission and regional impact.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + An earned doctorate from a college or university accredited by a Regional Accrediting Organization.

    + 5+ years of full-time faculty teaching experience at a college or university.

    + Progressively responsible academic administrative experience at a college or university including 2+ years of experience at or above the level of Assistant Dean.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + 2+ years of experience at or above the level of Dean

    + SUNY Experience

    + Agriculture or Technology College Experience

    + Demonstrated experience with decision making utilizing shared governance structure

    + Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communications
