    Job Description

    As part of the Manufacturing, Engineering & Contracting (ME&C) team within Global Operations, the ME&C Strategy Director & Chief of Staff will directly support the Senior Vice President of ME&C and act as a driver for organizational development, execution of strategic initiatives, design and implementation of processes and process improvements, and support for ME&C leadership team for special projects.

     

    In addition, the ME&C Strategy Director & Chief of Staff will work closely with partner cross functionality with the leadership teams in Quality, Product Development Science & Technology (PDS&T), Transformation, Supply Chain, Procurement and Global Security, in support of projects that execute against AbbVie’s strategic priorities, to meet our enterprise goals.

    In this role, you will:

    + Provide support to the Senior Vice President, ME&C, to help achieve enterprise goals for ME&C

    + Lead cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives supporting achievement of key enterprise priorities

    + Lead and support planning processes (Strategy, Financial Planning, organizational development, business processes)

    + Provide dedicated support when large or complex assessments or diligence processes are active, by acting as a bridge and integrator across functions

    + Lead developing materials for the Senior VP, ME&C to enable executive leadership decision-making on strategic goals

    + Lead developing materials for the Senior VP, ME&C for internal and external communication purposes in partnership with communications team

    + Provide support to ME&C leads for ongoing projects, processes and deliverables

    + Translate overarching strategies into various tactical plans for ME&C that help achieve ME&C specific and shared enterprise goals

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    + Bachelor’s Degree required and advanced degree (Engineering, PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) preferred

    + Minimum years of industry experience: 10+, with experience driving large cross-functional initiatives / projects. Prior industry experience in manufacturing related, innovation-focused, and/or Strategy-related roles highly preferred.

    + MBA (or equivalent degree in related discipline) or strategic management consulting experience strongly preferred

    + Strong knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing processes for biologics, pharmaceutical, device and/or combination technologies (sterile, biological, liquid, ointments, devices, solid tablets/caplets, suspensions, granulations, soft elastic capsules, gel caps, extended release products, coating solutions, and active pharmaceutical ingredients), regulatory, and commercialization process required

    + Demonstrated ability to drive large cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment, foster team consensus-building and deliver timely results

    + Strong communication skills, to effectively communicate assessments, plans, strategies and recommendations to key stakeholders across different functional domains as well as to executive audiences

    + Must possess strong analytical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills, the ability to speak and write persuasively and with clarity, strong organizational skills, flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements, resourcefulness and creativity, strong attention to detail, a proven track record of being able to work under deadlines and an ability to work collaboratively in a fluid organizational environment.

    + Strong analytical skills to drive scientific/technical assessments and to guide high-quality, fact-based decision making

    + Demonstrated ability to lead and act with an enterprise mindset

    + Travel expectation will be approx. 20%

    + The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. ​

    + We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

    + This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​

    Salary: $200,500 - $382,000
