Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the Quality Manager in establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the organization's quality management system. This position requires expertise in nondestructive testing methodologies, naval specifications compliance, and quality system management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in developing quality procedures, conducting audits, and ensuring adherence to ISO, NADCAP, Electric Boat, and NAVSEA specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, maintain, and improve ISO 9001 and NADCAP quality management systems.
+ Create and implement quality procedures, work instructions, and metallurgical specifications.
+ Conduct internal and external quality audits to ensure compliance with industry and customer standards.
+ Perform customer contract reviews and ensure all quality requirements are captured and implemented.
+ Provide training to personnel on quality-related procedures and standards.
+ Interpret and implement Electric Boat and NAVSEA specifications and requirements.
+ Review and analyze customer specifications including military, aerospace, and industry standards.
+ Ensure compliance with naval shipbuilding quality requirements throughout manufacturing processes.
+ Maintain current knowledge of changes to Electric Boat and NAVSEA specifications.
+ Oversee nondestructive examination processes and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
+ Review and approve NDT procedures and ensure proper implementation.
+ Approve raw material receipts and verify material certifications against specifications.
+ Review purchase orders to vendors to validate required specification pass-down information.
+ Analyze and interpret mill test reports to optimize manufacturing processes.
+ Provide final review and approval of Certified Material Test Reports (CMTRs).
+ Maintain expertise in AMS 2750E pyrometry requirements.
+ Review and approve heat treatment procedures and temperature uniformity surveys.
+ Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of heat treatment instrumentation.
+ Investigate and resolve customer complaints through systematic root cause analysis.
+ Prepare and submit Nonconformance Material Reports (NCMRs) to customers for approval and disposition.
+ Administer nonconformance documentation and corrective action processes.
+ Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality performance.
+ Analyze quality metrics and trends to identify improvement opportunities.
+ Provide technical support for manufacturing engineering requirements.
+ Collaborate with customers on procedure submissions, approvals, and technical matters.
+ Communicate effectively with customers regarding quality issues and resolutions.
+ Maintain working knowledge of manufacturing operations including forging, CNC machining, and manual machining.
+ Direct and coordinate quality personnel activities as required.
+ Conduct final reviews of quality documentation packages.
+ Ensure proper maintenance of quality records and traceability documentation.
+ Interpret technical blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and machining drawings.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 5 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience with nondestructive testing methods and applications.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Electric Boat and/or NAVSEA specifications.
+ Proven experience with ISO 9001 and NADCAP quality management systems.
+ Proficiency in interpreting military, aerospace, and industry specifications.
+ Strong understanding of nondestructive examination techniques and standards.
+ Expertise in metallurgy, forging processes, and heat treatment operations.
+ Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Familiarity with AMS 2750E pyrometry requirements.
+ Understanding of naval shipbuilding quality requirements.
+ Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
+ Experience with quality management software systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
+ Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
+ AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems training.
+ Quality systems auditing certification (Internal Auditor minimum, Lead Auditor preferred).
+ NDT Level II certification preferred.
+ Training in applicable military and naval specifications.
+ Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
+ Customer service orientation.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
The position operates in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to shop floor conditions. Standard business hours apply, with flexibility required to meet customer demands. Punctual attendance is required as determined by the Quality Manager. Occasional travel may be needed for customer meetings or audits. The site accommodates 55 to 60 people. Employees receive 3 weeks of vacation and 1 week of sick leave annually.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
PTO-3 weeks Vacation, 1 week sick

This is a fully onsite position in West Chester,PA.
