Join a dedicated team supporting critical engineering initiatives that advance how companies serve the world. This position is part of the IT Telecommunications Network Engineering group, which is involved in planning, designing, project management, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of telecommunication equipment, networks, facilities, and systems. You will work with technologies including CAT 5e, fiber optics, point-to-point microwave, land mobile radio, point-to-multipoint systems, and commercial wireless technologies supporting the power grid.
Responsibilities
+ Lead large and complex projects.
+ Plan, design, install, configure, update, troubleshoot, and perform analysis of intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems, including Fiber, DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, ICON, radio, and microwave networks.
+ Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points (WAPs), gateways, and other networking equipment.
+ Prepare detailed project plans, cost estimates, schedules, specifications, and contract documents for telecom construction or maintenance projects.
+ Manage and implement all phases of new telecom network upgrade, renovation, or construction projects from pre-design to completion.
+ Coordinate internal and external resources, manage project schedules, supervise quality standards, manage costs, and address implementation issues or changes.
+ Evaluate bids to ensure proposed construction or equipment meets requirements.
+ Conduct research on emerging technologies and recommend cost-effective and flexible systems.
+ Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture.
+ Lead, facilitate, and coordinate work activities of others to complete projects.
+ Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
+ Identify and initiate corrective action when project objectives are not met.
+ Interpret codes and regulations and develop standards for projects.
+ Participate in development of plans by establishing goals, objectives, and requirements.
+ Work under supervision of Senior and Principle Engineers.
+ Travel up to 10% for site visits.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in network engineering, network infrastructure, and network design.
+ Proficient in Cisco routers, switches, and networking.
+ Experience with firewalls and CCNA certification.
+ Knowledge of telecommunications and core/backbone networks.
+ Experience in network architecture/design and setting up data centers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, or telecommunications is preferred.
+ Two to eight years of experience in telecommunication, network engineering, or IT infrastructure.
+ Professional experience related to the design, installation, and maintenance of local and wide area networks.
+ Experience as a Network Engineer or Administrator in a LAN or WAN environment.
Work Environment
The office environment is quiet and shared with another engineer. The dress code is business casual, with a laid-back atmosphere promoting teamwork. Engineers are encouraged to collaborate frequently.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of New Albany, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $58.05/hr.
