Custodial Maintenance Specialist

**Location:** Springfield, VA

**Employment Type:** Contract to Hire

**Shift Schedule:** Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

**Security Requirement:** Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented **Custodial Maintenance Specialist** to support the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of office and operational facilities. Working under general supervision, you will be responsible for maintaining designated areas and ensuring a clean, orderly environment that meets health and safety standards. This role is essential to the facility's overall appearance and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

+ Clean and maintain commercial and institutional buildings, including offices, hallways, restrooms, kitchens, and storage areas

+ Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and buffers

+ Perform routine custodial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, washing, waxing, and buffing surfaces

+ Maintain and restock hygiene and cleaning supplies

+ Remove trash and debris, transport refuse to designated disposal areas

+ Shampoo carpets and polish floors as needed

+ Clean walls, windows, elevators, fixtures, and stairwells

+ Maintain restroom cleanliness and perform regular checks

+ Clear snow and debris from building entrances

+ Monitor facility for maintenance, safety, and security concerns; report issues to supervisors

+ Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures

+ Comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions

+ Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications

+ Proven experience in custodial, janitorial, or environmental services

+ Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment and tools

+ Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment

Preferred Experience

+ Experience in commercial or institutional cleaning

+ Experience in facilities maintenance or support roles

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.77 - $21.77/hr.
