Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician
? Location: Eighty Four, PA
? Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Overview
We’re seeking a motivated Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support automation, control systems, and field installations in an industrial environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical skills, troubleshooting ability, and a willingness to grow their expertise in automation and HMI/PLC programming.
Key Responsibilities
+ Assist with HMI development (primarily Red Lion and PanelView).
+ Support PLC programming and troubleshooting using Rockwell/Allen Bradley software.
+ Work with Wonderware and related industrial automation systems.
+ Perform basic electrical troubleshooting on field devices including relays, transmitters, 4–20 mA circuits, Modbus devices, and communication equipment.
+ Run 24V power to new devices and properly terminate Cat5 and 16/2 pair cable.
+ Commission and install field devices (Modbus equipment, HMI swaps, PLC changeouts, I/O card swaps, etc.).
+ Document programs, C&Es, and field installations — taking photos and keeping detailed notes.
+ Maintain a stocked service vehicle with basic tools, cable, and testing equipment.
Required Tools & Skills
+ Basic electrical hand tools for field visits.
+ Multimeter capable of reading mA, VDC, VAC, Ohms.
+ Modbus converter for device communication and troubleshooting.
+ Familiarity with Modbus communication and industrial networking.
+ Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs and HMI systems.
+ Previous experience with automation commissioning or integration.
+ Strong documentation and communication skills.
+ Willingness to learn and expand into advanced automation tasks.
