Position Title: Special Education Teacher (Part-Time)
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Through July 31, 2026
Estimated Weekly Hours: 17.5 hours
Position Overview:
We are seeking three dedicated Part-Time Special Education Teachers to join our team. Under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will provide high-quality services to students in grades K–12. This role emphasizes collaboration with general education staff to support student success through specialized instruction, tutoring, and consultation.
Schedule:
+ Afternoon Hours: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
+ Weekly Commitment: 10–20 hours (10–15 face-to-face hours + 1 hour/day for IEP planning)
+ IEP Meetings: May be conducted virtually; assessments must be in person
+ Optional Saturday Hours
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid Maryland Teaching License (no conditional or provisional licenses)
+ Certification Types (preferred):
+ Standard Elementary Teaching
+ Standard Secondary Teaching
+ Standard Special Teaching
+ Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
+ Minimum 1 year of teaching experience (preferred)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Age 18+
+ Additional Requirements:
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (as required)
+ MD 486, CPS, FP, MSDE credentialing
Job Duties:
+ Conduct early childhood assessments to determine special education eligibility
+ Administer the PATEL Mental Inventory
+ Collaborate with up to 5 professionals during assessments (typically 2–3), plus family and child
+ Work with children ages 3–5
+ Use MD Relay online for EMR/charting
+ Maintain a 1:1 student ratio
