Pay: $22.14 - $28.78 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Summary:
This position is within the Patient Line Refill Center (PLRC) and is non-patient facing. The team is responsible for following a standardized protocol approved by the UCHealth P&T Committee to ensure appropriate monitoring and authorization of medications for UCHealth primary care and specialty clinics. The PLRC team includes Pharmacy Technicians, Medication Access Specialists (MAS), Clinical Nurses and Clinical Pharmacists. They process over 88,000 refill requests per month on behalf of UCHealth providers. PLRC team members establish collaborative working relationships with clinic staff, providers, and patients across the UCHealth system to authorize, troubleshoot, and resolve prescription refill issues. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, contacting patients and pharmacies for clarification of refill requests, transcribing details from faxes and phone messages into the electronic medical record and advocating for utilization of UCHealth pharmacies.
Responsibilities
+ Authorize and/or prepare medication refill requests in Epic according to the UCHealth Refill Protocol.
+ Accurately document pertinent patient information related to medication, labs, and office visits in the chart.
+ Accurately determine which medication authorizations can be completed by MAS, clinical staff, and those that need to be deferred to the clinic/provider for review.
+ Identify and prioritize urgent refill requests and take the necessary steps to complete those requests in an accurate and efficient manner.
+ Stay current with and appropriately utilize PLRC resources.
Requirements:
+ Certified Pharmacy Technician
+ Pharmacy Technician Provisional-State
+ Pharmacy Technician-State
+ High School diploma or GED.
+ PHATP (Pharmacy Technician Provisional) certification from State Board of Pharmacy. PHAT (Pharmacy Technician) certification from State Board of Pharmacy within 18 months of hire. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
+ 2 years of Pharmacy Technician experience or 1 year of experience performing prior authorizations or refill renewals.
