    Job Title: CMM Operator

    Job Description

    The position requires operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure precision and accuracy in the inspection process. The role involves handling mostly one-off business and some low-volume production of high-tolerance parts. Responsibilities include managing the inspection workflow, utilizing CMM and inspection tools, and meticulous reporting and documentation.

    Responsibilities

    + Receive parts post-machining for inspection.

    + Perform bench work and transition parts to a dedicated CMM inspection room.

    + Collaborate with the 1st shift lead for handoff and continuity.

    + Conduct full inspections using both manual and automated methods.

    + Operate CMMs using PC-DMIS software.

    + Use manual tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, optical comparators, and other precision instruments.

    + Inspect parts with tight tolerances.

    + Complete Form 3 for all inspections (First Article and Standard).

    + Follow inspection plans created at job setup, using ballooned drawings and Form 3 to guide inspection and programming.

    + Flag critical tolerances and document findings accurately.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years experience operating CMM.

    + Proficient in PC-DMIS.

    + Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.

    + Experience in quality inspection and CMM programming.

    + Proficient with precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and blueprint interpretation.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + CMM Programming (PC-DMIS) - Write and modify inspection programs.

    + Experience in aerospace manufacturing (AS9102).

    + Experience in aerospace manufacturing.

    Work Environment

     

    Work within a 65,000 square feet temperature-, vibration-, and access-controlled machining space, well-lit and clean. The Quality Control Lab is equipped with 5 CMM machines. The role involves working the 2nd shift with some flexibility but generally starting around 3:30/4 pm and ending around midnight. Enjoy a 10% shift premium.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Macomb, MI.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr.
