    2. Curriculum Vitae: A comprehensive curriculum vitae, including a list of publications. If applicable, please also include links to relevant software.

Research Statement: A research statement, not exceeding three (3) pages, describing the applicant's: Most important research results to date; Current and future research interests, including both scientific topics and algorithm/software development; Potential synergies with ongoing research at the University of Michigan with at least 2 professors on campus applying mathematics to the biosciences.

    4. Letters of Recommendation: Two (2) letters of recommendation. Applicants should ensure that all materials are submitted as part of their application package.

    Job Summary

    The Michigan Center for Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics (MCAIM) is actively seeking enthusiastic and innovative early-career researchers to join our Algorithm Core team. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research in applied mathematics, focusing on the development of novel algorithms and tools that will benefit researchers at the University of Michigan and beyond. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations, with a special focus on data-driven insights in the biosciences.

    Responsibilities*

    Conduct pioneering research in algorithm development and optimization, applying these to complex datasets with a particular emphasis on bioscience data. Design, implement, and validate computational models and innovative algorithms to address core challenges within MCAIM. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across mathematics, computer science, and biosciences to integrate and develop comprehensive analytical tools. Assist in writing grant proposals to support core initiatives and ongoing projects. Prepare and contribute to high-impact publications, and present research findings at academic conferences and workshops. Support fellow team members, fostering a collaborative research environment.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

    + Demonstrated experience in algorithm development, computational modeling, and advanced data analysis.

    + Strong programming skills, particularly in Python or MATLAB; experience with coding for bioscience data is a plus.

    + Proven ability to conduct original, outstanding research and expertise in computational methods, data analysis, and scientific simulation.

    + Excellent problem-solving skills and strong analytical abilities.

    + Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary environments and communicate technical concepts effectively.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Experience with machine learning, data inference, or image analysis.

    + Strong oral and written communication skills and proficiency in data documentation and presentation.

    + Ability to mentor and provide guidance to students, researchers, and faculty.
