    Job Title: Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic $28-35 + benefits

     

    Shop is located in Davidson and will work in the Charlotte area

    Job Description

    We are seeking two highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanics/Technicians to join our team. This role requires flexibility to work in both a shop and field environment, with the opportunity for overtime. The ideal candidates will have extensive experience in troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, skid steers, and dump trucks. Candidates with experience in heavy civil contracting or equipment rental companies are preferred.

    Responsibilities

    + Work safely and correct any Service Center hazards, complying with safety requirements.

    + Collaborate with the Service Center Supervisor and review work orders.

    + Inspect equipment to determine service and repair needs.

    + Perform routine maintenance and repairs on on-road vehicles, small tools, and light/heavy equipment.

    + Utilize analyzers, gauges, and diagnostic devices to test components and systems.

    + Disassemble units to inspect parts for wear and repair.

    + Follow manufacturer documents and checklists to ensure thorough maintenance.

    + Test-drive equipment to verify proper functioning post-repair.

    + Complete equipment and tool tags upon work completion.

    + Document service records accurately.

    + Perform welding tasks and clean/wash equipment.

    + Be available for emergency calls outside of normal business hours.

    + Ensure a safe, accident-free environment for all stakeholders.

    Essential Skills

    + Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures on heavy equipment.

    + Basic understanding of heavy equipment operation.

    + Experience in hydraulic repair.

    + Skills in diesel engine and electrical troubleshooting.

    + Mechanical troubleshooting abilities.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Valid Driver's License.

    + Automotive maintenance training and experience.

    + Experience with small tools (electric and gas) and light/heavy equipment.

    + Basic computer skills, including typing, email, and Internet.

    + Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical reasoning skills.

    + Ability to analyze and interpret equipment manuals and schematics.

    + Focus on fine detail and pride in workmanship.

    + Logical and critical thinking skills.

    + Basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

    Work Environment

     

    This is a hybrid role involving work both in the shop and in the field. Candidates must have a valid driver's license for travel. The role involves working indoors frequently, with occasional outdoor work. Expect a fifty-hour work week with infrequent travel out of town. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and frequent climbing and leaning.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
