    Role Overview:

    The Seasonal Tax Document Worker prepares incoming tax documents for additional processing. Work is done with excellent accuracy, customer focus, and commitment to Indiana taxpayers. Duties are assigned according to the processing area.

    Salary:

    This position starts at $22.00 per hour.

     

    A Day in the Life:

    Mailroom:

    + Sort incoming mail. This may include using a sorting machine.

    + Open mail and prepare documents, coupons, and currency for processing.

    + Determine tax type and route according to procedures.

    + Transport documents and return to the imaging area.

    Imaging and Scanning:

    + Review, analyze, and determine the correct job for scanning documents.

    + Accurately enter information from customer tax returns.

    + Review, analyze, and reconcile items to ensure batch accuracy.

    + Reconcile cash letters to ensure all checks are properly processed.

    Data Entry:

    + Use computer applications to view imaged documents and key information into the tax system

    + Complete related work as assigned.

    Individual processing:

    + Review suspended individual and fiduciary income tax returns.

    + Provide technical support to taxpayers by mail, email, electronic transmission, and/or INTIME portal.

    + Compare state, federal, and other tax returns to ensure the accuracy of Indiana returns.

    + Compute and issue refunds or delinquency notices.

    + Compute and assess penalties and interest due on delinquent taxes.

    + Establish payment plans for individual or fiduciary accounts.

    + Review and transfer payments.

    Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

    This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
