Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Walnut Creek, California. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong accounting background and attention to detail to contribute directly to the organization’s financial operations. Reporting to the Controller, you will manage critical accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple areas.

Responsibilities:

+ Perform bank and account reconciliations, including financial statement analysis.

+ Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end closings.

+ Conduct financial analyses, reporting, and transaction reclassifications.

+ Maintain and reconcile lease schedules, contracts, and fixed asset records.

+ Manage multi-location sales and property tax filings.

+ Oversee company credit card usage and expense recording.

+ Collaborate with Collections, Trust, Cash Receipts, Payroll, and Accounts Payable teams as needed.

+ Support the evaluation, development, and implementation of improved financial controls and procedures.

+ Participate in special projects assigned by the Controller.

+ Investigate and resolve WIP credits, unidentified receipts, and unapplied receipts.

Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

+ Strong technical proficiency across multiple accounting functions.

+ Solid understanding of GAAP, accounting systems, practices, controls, and procedures.

+ Experience with ERP systems is required.

+ Capable of managing multiple projects and adapting quickly to shifting priorities.

+ Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

+ Excellent verbal communication and organizational abilities.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
