Entry Level Substation Drafter
This Opportunity
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP,is currently initiating a search for an **Entry Level Substation Drafter** for our **Overland Park, Kansas** **office.** Be involved in projects with our **Power Delivery** **Substation Team** and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
+ The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
+ The position entails drafting and design opportunities on substation projects that include physical and civil layout drawings, as well as schematics and wiring diagrams.
+ The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge; learning client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; being responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborating on design issues; and seeking guidance from those with more experience.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Associate's/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience
+ Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skillsin order towork effectively with other team members
+ Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
+ 1+ year drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, preferably in an engineering work environment
+ Experience with Autodesk Raster Design and/or Bentley Descartes
+ Experience interpreting substation electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings
+ Experience working with scaled drawings
+ Working knowledge of survey coordinate systems
+ Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
+ Experience with ProjectWise File Management System
+ Reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of assigned tasks
