    Staff Development Manager

     

    Full-Time Opportunity Available!

     

    The Staff Development Manager plays a key role in shaping the learning and growth of our workforce. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering agency-wide training programs to ensure staff meet regulatory requirements and continue to grow professionally. Working closely with Human Resources, Program Directors, and the Quality and Compliance team, the Manager ensures every staff member is well-prepared to support our mission.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead and coordinate New Hire Orientation, including scheduling, teaching, and evaluating program effectiveness.

     

    Collaborate with HR and supervisors to ensure timely completion of all required trainings and certifications.

     

    Develop and update training programs using adult learning principles to enhance effectiveness and engagement.

     

    Research, design, and implement new professional development initiatives based on agency and staff needs.

     

    Maintain accurate electronic training and certification records; generate and distribute reports as needed.

     

    Coordinate annual and supervisory training calendars; organize presenters and ensure timely delivery of sessions.

     

    Serve as an instructor for OPWDD-required trainings, including behavioral supports, CPR, and First Aid.

     

    Evaluate training effectiveness through surveys and observations; recommend improvements.

     

    Support agency compliance efforts and contribute to policy and procedure development related to training.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in education, human services, or related field (or equivalent experience).

     

    2–3 years of experience in staff development, training coordination, or a related role.

     

    Valid NYS Driver's License required.

     

    Strong presentation and communication skills; comfortable leading both large and small groups.

     

    Proficiency in Microsoft Word and the ability to learn and use electronic record systems.

     

    Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design preferred.

     

    Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and OPWDD-required curriculum (or willingness to obtain).
