    Position Summary:

    The Safety Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining programs that promote a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment within the food manufacturing facility. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all safety, health, and environmental initiatives and ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.

     

    **Responsibilities** :

    Safety, Leadership and Compliance:

    + Serve as the primary on-site contact for all safety-related matters.

    + Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with OSHA, FDA, and company standards.

    + Deliver safety programs within approved budgets and conduct safety training as needed.

    + Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations; track and ensure completion of corrective actions.

    + Monitor and analyze safety metrics to identify trends, reduce OSHA recordable incidents, and decrease lost-time injuries.

    + Lead and document ongoing safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committee activities.

    + Partner with supervisors and department leaders to identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards.

    + Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documentation, including OSHA logs, inspection reports, and compliance records.

    + Promote a proactive safety culture built on engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    + Actively support and integrate Food Safety and Quality initiatives into safety programs.

    + Perform other duties as assigned to support overall site safety and compliance objectives.

    Training and Communication:

    + Ensure all associates complete required corporate and site-specific safety and compliance training.

    + Coordinate and track new hire orientations, refresher courses, and specialized certifications.

    + Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently across departments.

    + Coach employees and supervisors to reinforce safe work habits and hazard awareness.

    + Foster strong interpersonal relationships that promote openness, trust, and collaboration throughout the organization. **Facility Support & Upkeep:**

    + Partner with the Maintenance Manager to identify and address facility maintenance or repair needs that impact safety or associate well-being.

    + Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to ensure compliance with housekeeping, lighting, ventilation, and emergency system standards. **Continuous Improvement:**

    + Analyze safety and wellness performance metrics to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.

    + Lead cross-functional initiatives to strengthen safety culture, enhance wellness participation, and improve overall workplace quality.

    + Stay current with changes in regulations, standards, and best practices, update programs and policies accordingly.

    Associate Wellness & Engagement:

    + Design and lead wellness initiatives focused on physical health, ergonomics, stress management, and overall well-being.

    + Collaborate with Human Resources to implement wellness campaigns, challenges, and recognition programs that encourage engagement and healthy lifestyles.

    + Support ergonomic assessments, fatigue management, and injury prevention programs.

    + Serve as a resource to associates regarding wellness programs, mental health support, and available benefits (e.g., EAP and health screenings).

    + Track participation and outcomes of wellness programs, reporting key metrics and continuous improvement opportunities.

    + Ensure all contractors and vendors adhere to site-specific safety and compliance requirements.

    4 - 6 years Occupational safety and health management or related area
