Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist responsible for overseeing all setups, edits, and G-code programming directly at the machine. This role involves working on two Okuma lathes to produce parts ranging from handheld sizes to larger components requiring an overhead crane for movement.

Responsibilities

+ Perform all setups and edits at the machine using G-code and conversational programming.

+ Operate and program two Okuma lathes, producing 300-50 parts per day depending on the job.

+ Write and transfer programs directly at the machine.

+ Inspect parts using measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers.

Essential Skills

+ 3-5 years of experience in CNC setup of Mills or Lathes.

+ 3-5 years of experience in G-code programming, with the ability to edit programs.

+ Proficiency in the inspection of parts using calipers and micrometers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Okuma lathes is a plus.

+ Transferable programming skills.

+ Machining degree or certificate.

+ High School Diploma or GED.

Work Environment

Our tight-knit shop fosters a supportive community with an average job tenure of 7 years. We operate 20 machines, including 3 in the machine shop, and offer flexible shift options. Choose between the first shift from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, or the second shift from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday through Friday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BENTON HARBOR, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
