Role Overview
The **Cytotechnologist Regional Coordinator** plays a key role in supporting regional cytology operations and ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency within our laboratories. Working in collaboration with the Regional Manager and/or Director, this role provides technical and supervisory support to staff and contributes to regulatory readiness and operational excellence.
You will also perform cytology testing, assist in specimen preparation and fine needle aspirations, evaluate and classify specimens, and maintain high-quality standards in all aspects of cytology services.
Key Responsibilities
+ Supervise cytology staff in coordination with the Regional Manager or Director
+ Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements (CAP, ACHA, JCAHO, etc.)
+ Troubleshoot test, instrument, and specimen delivery issues
+ Maintain optimal turnaround times and accuracy in reporting
+ Assist with KRONOS time management biweekly and may oversee direct reports
+ Support employee coaching, performance evaluations, and development
+ Contribute to quality reporting, education, and marketing initiatives
+ Perform cytology testing and assist with preparation and evaluation of specimens
+ Participate in fine needle aspiration procedures and on-site cytology education
+ Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and instrumentation
+ Coordinate scheduling and assist with training activities
Qualifications
• **Education**
+ **Required:** Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related field
• **Licensure/Certification**
+ ASCP Certified Cytologist (CT)
+ ASCP Certified Technologist in Cytogenetics (CG)
+ Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license
+ ThinPrep certification required
• **Experience**
+ Experience in cytogenetics required
+ Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
