Commodity Manager
The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing the purchasing strategy for the assigned commodity, ensuring alignment with site, division, and overall business objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation
+ Define and deploy the purchasing strategy.
+ Implement a roadmap aligned with corporate and division objectives across multiple business lines.
+ Consolidate and analyze purchasing data.
+ Monitor market segmentation and trends.
+ Identify performance improvement drivers, such as operational efficiency and cost savings.
Supplier Management
+ Define the supplier target panel for the division based on operational performance and competitiveness.
+ Manage sourcing for current and future business needs in collaboration with the NPI Commodity Manager.
+ Assess and mitigate risks related to the commodity.
Contract Negotiation
+ Negotiate long-term and global trade agreements in line with division expectations.
+ Focus on cost savings, liability, and accountability for performance.
+ Optimize working capital through logistics solutions, safety stock, vendor-managed inventory (VMI), and more.
Cost Optimization & Value Creation
+ Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or supply chain stability.
+ Implement contract clauses that drive continuous improvement and innovation from suppliers.
Supplier Performance Monitoring
+ Consolidate and report on supplier performance for managed commodities.
+ Support cross-purchasing initiatives within the organization.
Qualifications
Required Education and/or Experience
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Purchasing, or a related field.
+ 5 years of experience in purchasing negotiations within a fast-paced manufacturing sector such as aerospace, automotive, or high-tech.
+ Proven experience in sourcing or commodity management.
+ Ability to work effectively across cultural and geographical borders, ensuring alignment and collaboration within teams.
Required Knowledge/Skills
+ Proactive leadership skills.
+ Strong negotiation skills and ability to maintain successful supplier relationships.
+ Ability to identify, recommend, and implement strategic improvements in organizational structure, procedures, and workflows.
+ Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools (Excel).
+ Experience in contract management and production-related commodity negotiations.
+ Ability to work effectively within cross-functional and international business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
+ At least 4 years of management or supervisory experience within a matrixed organization and with international teams.
+ Extensive knowledge of the aerospace industry and how Purchasing and Supply Chain functions support overall business objectives.
+ Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical and controlling capabilities.
**Pay Details:** $23.00 per hour
