    Job Title: Driveline Project Lead

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Engine Warranty Engineer to spearhead HTIS Quality Projects. This role involves utilizing DFSS and 8D processes to support our aggressive timelines aimed at reducing warranty spend and failure rates. You will lead initiatives to identify and verify root causes of high warranty spend and failure rate issues, focusing on design, supplier quality, and manufacturing defects.

    Responsibilities

    + Rapidly work through DFSS phases: Define, Characterize, Optimize, and Verify, including root cause identification and verification.

    + Evaluate high warranty spend/failure rate subsystems for design, supplier quality, or manufacturing defect related issues.

    + Analyze warranty data/trends and part returns to identify root causes.

    + Implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.

    + Communicate project status and results to management, interfacing regularly with quality and core engineers.

    + Develop relationships with dealerships and fleets to resolve quality issues related to warranty and repairs quickly.

    + Understand different types of repairs and set up work plans, following up aggressively to reduce timelines for issue resolution.

    + Lead or attend team meetings.

    + Document lessons learned for knowledge preservation.

    + Proactively follow through on responsible activities along with required documentation to meet milestones and deliverables.

    Essential Skills

    + Warranty and failure mode analysis.

    + Problem-solving skills and experience with customer concerns and resolutions.

    + Automotive Powertrain experience/knowledge, with a preference for Transmission and Driveline.

    + Project management skills.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with quality improvement projects using DFSS, 8D, or other Six Sigma processes.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for presentations and project tracking.

    + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.

    Work Environment

    The role involves working in a dynamic environment where you will lead and participate in team meetings, coordinate with various departments, and establish relationships with dealerships and fleets. The position may require some travel to interface with external stakeholders and conduct on-site assessments. Professional attire is expected during client interactions.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Livonia, MI.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $44.50/hr.
