    Job Title: Structural Designer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Structural Designer to prepare detailed fabrication, shop, and erection drawings for steel assemblies and access structures. This role involves using Autodesk Advance Steel, AutoCAD, and Revit to develop connection details, bills of materials, and cut lists for fabrication shops. The candidate will ensure all drawings comply with engineering standards, codes, and company guidelines, and coordinate with fabrication shops, field supervisors, and engineering teams to ensure constructability, accuracy, and timely project delivery.

    Responsibilities

    + Prepare detailed fabrication, shop, and erection drawings for steel assemblies and access structures.

    + Develop connection details, bills of materials, and cut lists for fabrication shops.

    + Ensure all drawings comply with engineering standards, codes, and company guidelines.

    + Coordinate with fabrication shops, field supervisors, and engineering teams for project accuracy and timely delivery.

    + Revise and update drawings based on engineering feedback, field conditions, and client requirements.

    + Maintain organized drawing submittals and revision control through CAD/PDM systems.

    + Provide support during fabrication and erection, resolving drawing or dimensional issues.

    + Assist application engineers by preparing erection drawings, scaffold/hoist layouts, and assembly instructions.

    + Gain expertise in product lines to accurately draft and document access solutions.

    + Support engineering staff with preparation of calculation packages when required.

    + Comply with all safety protocols within the work environment.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in Autodesk Advance Steel, AutoCAD, and Revit.

    + 2+ years of experience as a steel detailer, engineering drafter, or designer.

    + Familiarity with fabrication processes, welding, bolted connections, and shop practices.

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.

    + Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    + Motivated to learn and work in the construction industry.

    + Creative problem-solving skills in a collaborative team environment.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Associate or bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering Technology or equivalent drafting/design experience.

    + Basic knowledge of engineering software such as STAAD, RISA, TEDDS, and ENERCALC is a plus.

    + Experience in a steel fabrication shop environment is preferred.

    Work Environment

    A flexible hybrid schedule starting at 4 days in-office and transitioning to 3 days as the candidate becomes productive and comfortable. Most work is performed in the office with limited travel and occasional site visits. The company offers a dynamic work environment with projects primarily in Manhattan, focusing on high-rise buildings, historical restorations, infrastructure, and industrial maintenance.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Passaic, NJ.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
