A Snapshot of Your Day
The High Temperature Materials
Engineer is a crucial position in Materials and Technology, part of a team
developing complex technologies related to gas turbine efficiency and
reliability, supporting our decarbonization strategy.
Do you enjoy working on new
solutions that help others and providing the best support regarding materials
for our products within Siemens Energy, especially for our large gas turbine
products?
The primary focus of this
position is the development of high-temperature Ni-based superalloy cast
materials used in our gas turbine products. This includes material selection
and development to meet gas turbine efficiency and reliability targets. Within
a network of materials engineers, you will support material development for
high-performance alloys. In this context, you will play a decisive role in
advancing our landscape of high-temperature material systems.
How You Will Make an Impact
+ Drive future materials strategies with expertknowledge in Ni-based superalloys for new and advanced high-temperaturematerial systems, supported by testing, modeling activities, and fleetexperience.
+ Lead material development projects in global teams, from project initiation and feasibility studies to test planning andgeneration of property curves for gas turbine hot gas path design.
+ Collaborate with colleagues in gas turbine design andservice engineering on materials-related topics to identify optimalsolutions for our hot gas path components.
+ Support supplier qualification and definition ofmaterial specifications.
+ Define and manage project schedules, milestones, andbudgets.
What You Bring
+ Bachelor's Degree (Master’s or PhD highly preferred) in Materials Science or MechanicalEngineering with a focus on Materials Engineering; 5+ years of industry experience or an equivalent combination of education/background.
+ Significant knowledge in the mechanical behavior ofNi-based superalloys; deep understanding of materials science (e.g., alloydesign, metallurgy, microstructural evolution, deformation mechanisms);understanding of gas turbine and steam turbine technology, includingmanufacturing and investment castings.
+ Experience in materials modeling (numericalsimulation utilizing, for example, ThermoCalc), programming using Python, data analysis, or similar to predict and optimize materials properties ishighly desirable.
+ Very good project management skills; experience incollaborating in multidisciplinary research networks/project consortia;strategic judgment and risk management.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills tosuccessfully collaborate in a multicultural and cross-organizational teams.
+ Fluent in English (verbal/written); German a plus!
